Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern use of Klassmate (the "Platform"), operated from Hyderabad, Telangana, India. By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who can use Klassmate

Klassmate is provided to schools and, through them, to their staff and to the guardians of their enrolled students. A school (acting through its authorised administrator) is responsible for the accounts it creates for its own staff and for issuing access to guardians.

2. Accounts

• You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
• Staff accounts are created and managed by the school; guardian accounts are activated by the guardian via an invite issued by the school.
• Tell us immediately at theadmin@klassmate.space if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

3. What the school owns vs. what Klassmate provides

The school owns the data it enters about its students, staff, and guardians. Klassmate acts as the platform that stores and processes that data on the school's behalf, as described in our Privacy Policy. If a school stops using Klassmate, its data is handled per that policy's retention terms.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Platform to harass, defame, or harm any other user, including via the messaging or announcement features.
• Attempt to access another school's data, or another guardian's/student's data outside your own.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to circumvent the Platform's security.
• Upload unlawful content, or content you don't have the right to share.

5. Fees & payments

• School fee collection through Klassmate is processed via Razorpay. Payment terms (amount, due dates) are set by the school, not by Klassmate.
• Klassmate's own subscription fee to a school (if any) is agreed separately with that school and is not covered by these Terms.
• Payments are generally non-refundable except where required by law or separately agreed.

6. Availability

We aim for the Platform to be reliably available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, and features may change as the product evolves. We are not liable for outages caused by third-party services we depend on (hosting, payment gateway, SMS gateway).

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Klassmate is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Platform. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.

8. Termination

A school may stop using Klassmate at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms or the Acceptable Use section above, with notice where practicable.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hyderabad, Telangana.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
